I have now heat treated and ground the blades now off to the polishing area. Ok its not some much an area as a stool. I will sand to say 500 the give them a dip in the etch so as to show how the pattern look I already know because you can see it in the right light. The seax is ready for a rough grind and heat treat for fun I forged a pair of bollock dagger blades from 200 layer twist. I have not forged bevels so I will get more star from the grinding. I prefer to have a few projects at different stages so that I don't spend all day doing the same thing. #lochac #twisteddamascus #seax #Viking #bollockdagger
Just cleaned the surfaces to check for pending design changes and make sure that the edge ends up on the correct side. The bar us a little long at 500 mm and it is still 12 mm thick and still needs to be forged out a little so there will be an offcut. #seax #nzknifemaker #twisteddamascus #viking #patternwelded #lochac
The 9 bars are done and ready to be forged to size yeah I know you only see 3 the others are all in to centre bar which is 2 x 3. Next steep is to pattern the 75 layer edge and ladder the second bar from the top. Then weld the bars together. #nzknifemaker #lochac #seax #viking #twisteddamascus
